Solar energy engineers are already required in many sectors of the energy industry, which plays a crucial role in the supply of future energy on Earth. At Dalarna University, in Sweden, you will study while in close contact with teachers and researchers at the Solar Energy Research Center (SERC) and in the courses you will be trained on real-case projects. Besides, the international character of the programme will allow you to work in multinational companies and to create a worldwide network for your future career.
The programme is a one or two-year Master’s in Solar Energy Engineering that blends theory and practical elements to give students an optimal start for their solar career as well as research opportunities. All courses are taught in English and they comprise 60 credits (for the one-year programme) or 120 credits (for the two-years programme). After passing all courses, including the thesis work, the student is awarded the Degree of Master of Science with a major in Energy and Environmental Technology.
Like many courses and programmes at Dalarna University, this one is developed in close collaboration with regional business and industry, as well as other social sectors. The result of such collaboration is that over the last few years, students from Dalarna University have found employment in higher numbers than students from most other universities in Sweden. Although many of the students take campus-based courses, over 50% of all students are registered in web-based distance learning courses, for which Dalarna University is nationally recognised as a pioneer.
This is your chance to become an active engineer or manager in the global solar energy industry as many of the over 200 alumni of the Dalarna University are now. Most of the students work today as solar experts in the solar industry; others are researchers and teachers at universities and several graduates have successfully continued their education with PhD studies.
As the world is becoming increasingly globalised Dalarna University is focused on promoting internationalisation through the University’s courses, programmes and research in a way that benefits both it as an organisation as well as the region as a whole. So if you dream to work for engineering and consulting companies specialized in renewable energy projects, solar equipment manufacturers or government and non-government organizations worldwide this is the perfect programme for you.
