A lot of students choose to Study Abroad in Italy!

Are you considering Italy to study abroad? Today I’m going to give you 7 valid reasons why you should choose Italy as your study abroad desintation (some obvious but some will surprise you!)

Let’s start with a short introduction about Italy, in case you are not well informed about this country.

Italy, southern European country with a population of around 60 million, is worldwide considered as one of the most culturally and economically advanced countries. With an ancient story behind, it’s a first-choice destination for tourists and students coming from all around the world.

Ok, let’s zoom now into the reasons why you should choose Italy where to study.

History

As you probably know already, Italy hosted ancient populations such as Greek and Romans, making the European and world history over the years. That means you can walk through Italian streets, and still admire amazing architectures, fountains, monument and ruins where you feel literally part of a parallel historical period. Moreover, Italy hosted periods like Renaissance, fascism and world word II. For this reason, you’ll have the chance to enhance your cultural know-how by visiting old spots, talking with experts as well as tasting in real life what you have studied or read on books.

One day I decided to ask around worldwide students based now in Italy what was their feeling about studying and living in Italy.

I discovered most of them are not only extremely fascinated by Italian background but also deeply willing to keep studying in Italian Universities.

Weather & Geography

Because of the strategical position in the south of Europe, Italy has one of the best climates in the world. Generally, the weather is quite mild. However, spacing from the North to the South, you can literally find different climates. For instance, if you’re living in the North, close to the Alps, you’ll find the typical cold weather of the mountains. In the centre, you’ll have a super mild one (except for summer: it’s quite warm!). Reaching the South, you’ll find the sun basically 365 days with hot (but windy) summer and chill autumn/winter.  As you have probably got reading above, Italy hosts any kind of surroundings: mountains, lakes, sea, hills, rivers and so on…

In simple words: you’re spoiled for choice!

Pizza, Pasta and… Vino

Ok, when it’s time to deal with food and wine, Italy scores the highest point. If you decide to go to study in Italy, your lifestyle in terms of food will change. In fact, you can find and eat amazing recipes, starting from the authentic Neapolitan pizza to a tasty pasta Carbonara and Sicilian Arancini. All this followed by high quality white and red wines.

Don’t forget the quality of Italian ingredients! Above all, you’ll find good quality ones even in supermarkets and small food stores. That means have a healthy lifestyle, even important while studying (and taking exams!).

Language

Many people recognize Italian as one of the best languages to learn and speak. I tell you in advance: the Italiano is quite hard to learn because of its complexity, but as you are in the mood you’ll sooner or later get it. You just need to meet up Italian people and you’ll surely have the chance to speak and learn step by step.

Hospitality

Italy, as most of the Mediterranean countries, is well known for its sense of hospitality to foreign people who decide to live there. Above all, if you’re a student just arrived in Italy, you’ll find positive vibes and people will be welcoming with you. In a few words: you won’t feel alone or excluded while living your experience in Italy. Moreover, if you choose to study in a universitarian city such as Pavia, Bologna or Pisa, you will live a great experience in terms of hanging out with new people and embrace the Italian culture.

High-Quality Universities

Italy is also well-known for its universities spread in all the peninsula. Spacing from the north to the south, you can find good universities in terms of:

  • Level of education
  • Structure
  • Professors
  • Network

In this blog we can highlight especially Universities around Milan, which is known for all of the above in high quality. E.g. Universita Cattolica for e.g. Agrifood Engineering, Politecnico di Milano for more Engineering programs or Architecture/ Design, or closeby University di Pavia for their wide variety of courses from Finance to Medical BioTech and NanoTechnology.

The last one we would like to highlight as a nice alternative to Milan´s Universities. Vibrant Pavia is a student-town just 35km outside of Milan offering lower rents and cost of living whilst getting great education. The University of Pavia, founded in 1361, is a secular higher education institution and one of the most prestigious universities in Italy. University of Pavia is part of the select group of ‘Medieval Universities’, consisting of the oldest universities in the world that were also founded in the Middle Ages. Thus, the reputation of the University of Pavia precedes it, graduating over the centuries alumni capable of leading their very own industries.
